Five wonderful days in Poland, it was too soon time for goodbyes ๐ช We had our farewell party at Zoni in Warsaw, reputedly the most beautiful restaurant in the city.
Zoni was stunning indeed - we were greeted by a huge ceiling high wall of spirits, an endless 15 metre long bar and what looked like giant vault doors. They are actually doors of kilns. The restaurant and bar were set in the old Koneser vodka distillery which also houses Warsaw's vodka museum (which we just visited). Bar Zoni is like a vodka museum itself with over 230 different types of Poland's national drink ๐
Zoni was one of 7 finalists in the restaurant category for the prestigious World Interior News Award 2019. (The Gold award eventually went to John Anthony, a Cantonese grill i.e. siew lup and dim sum restaurant in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong.)
The dining room is at the upper open loft with the open kitchen in full view of diners. I always enjoy open kitchens as chefs in full flight action always fascinates me.
Our party before we got up the stairs to the dining hall above.
Our menu for the evening - Zoni serves Polish cuisine both traditional and new interpretations with contemporary and regional influences. Four of us seated together, Nat of rubbisheatrubbishgrow suggested that we each order something different from the menu to share and have a taste of everything. It's a great idea!
Don't ask the service staff for cutlery. Your cutlery set is neatly kept in a drawer cleverly tucked under your table ๐ All the wood furnishings such as floorboards and the tables at Zoni are made with wood recovered from old distillery barrels.
Nice warm bread and butter to warm up our salivary glands while our starters and mains were being prepared.
Fresh beef tartare with truffle, pickled cucumber, and pearl onion starter.
Cauliflower, burned butter, and almond starter.
Mushroom soup with creme fraiche.
Beef broth, sour cabbage and mushrooms.

Sea bass, capers, roasted potatoes, broccoli main course.
The baked sea bass was oh... so.. delicately tender and juicy. Its snowy white flesh was savoury sweet with no earthly taste at all. Blends perfectly with additional savoury sweet layers from the creamy white sauce. With nuanced layers of savoury sweetness, this was one of my top fish meals from this Poland trip.
Leftovers don't lie ๐

BBQ pork ribs, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, thyme and shallot.
Done to perfection, fall off the bone tender juicy sweet savoury herby aromatic pork ribs ๐ Between the fish and ribs, I am not sure which to order next time as both were delicious. (Not an issue as there are many things to try at Zoni e.g. they are also famous for their steaks.)
Carrot cake, plum, yogurt, orange dessert.
Cheesecake, chocolate, black currant dessert.
Polish wines to enjoy our excellent meal with. (Zoni also have wines from USA, Australia, New Zealand, France and Italy.)
Recommended for you ๐ Reputedly, one of the best restaurants in Warsaw lives up to its reputation. Good food (I love both the fish and rib dish), nice service, unique memorable ambiance and atmosphere - must include Zoni in your Warsaw food and sightseeing itinerary. You wouldn't want to miss dining in one of the 7 most beautiful restaurants in the world ๐ We didn't try the bar, but do have a vodka if you have time ๐
