Chilli crab is seen in Singapore as one of the food obsessed country's signature national dishes. The dish of mangrove crabs drenched in the signature tangy, sweet, spicy and savoury gravy is well loved by Singaporeans.
So, does this instant Chilli Crab Flavour Semi Dry Ramen do justice to the iconic Singapore crab dish?

Inside the packet were the noodle block and three sachets of seasoning powder, garnishing and chilli paste.
The heap of seasoning powder made of flavour enhancers, colouring and preservatives.
Garnishing of dehydrated egg, spring onions and potato starch balls with flavour enhancers.
The chilli paste with palm oil.
My steaming bowl of chilli crab flavour noodle was ready within 5 minutes.
The relatively thick, straight noodles were soft, slurpy smooth and slightly springy. It has a slight taste of wheat.
Though the broth was not like the best chilli crab gravy made with fresh ingredients, it did remind me of chilli crab gravy's complex flavours.
The tangy, sweet, spicy and savoury notes were all there. I was surprised in a good way. The starchy broth had good body too.
However, it was short on chilli crab aroma.
