Came to Marmolada food centre 大家胜美食中心 near KSL mall to try the chicken rice and roast stall after seeing Victor's FB post. Alexis also mentioned this stall to me.
Marmolada food centre 大家胜美食中心 is a breezy, lovely place to enjoy dinner Malaysia style. I like coming here because the open air food centre is centrally located, free parking is plentiful, and there are over 20 interesting food stalls here. Marmolada food centre 大家胜美食中心 is open for dinner and supper only.
One of the popular stalls here is Mr Lim's chicken rice and roasts stall.
Mr Lim had worked in Singapore restaurants before returning to JB last year to start his own stall.
I asked Mr Lim for the fatty cut of char siew (price RM9 with a plate of chicken rice).
Needless to say, the fatty char siew was tender and juicy. The marination was mildly savoury-sweet, and we can taste the underlying natural porky sweetness.
Next time, I shall try the leaner cut as they look so..... good.
Staring at these fried chicken and siew yok in the window, and seeing how popular they were, I decided to go for these as well.
This plate of fried chicken and siew yok on chicken rice costs RM8.50. It comes with a small bowl of tasty clear chicken soup.
The siew yok skin was very crispy. The lean meat tender and the fat juicy. Flavour was mildly savoury so we can taste the underlying porky sweetness. Delicious siew yok.
The chicken was tender and juicy with natural chicky flavour. The golden brown skin was soft yet there was a slight crisp.
Next time, I shall try a whole bird to best appreciate the tender and juicy fried chicken.
Oh, I must tell you about the rice here.
The grains were firm, nutty yet tender. They are good quality rice and they separate easy into individual grains. The rice have a nice aroma and was not overly greasy.
I saw many people ordering additional rice. Hey, I even saw a couple of young ladies order extra rice 😄 I have never seen ladies eat more than one bowl of oiled rice max, max until tonight.

DeleteIf I stand facing Hainanese Congee (Porridge) at Multi Mart 满地好 Kopitiam in Taman Century and Cantonese Porridge at Sun Yau Kee 新友記茶餐室, I need to go left or right in order to reach Marbolada Food Centre? And how many mins walk from 满地好？

ReplyDeleteif you are facing MultiMart and Sun Yau Kee, going right takes you to the old Holiday Plaza. Going left 1 minute by car takes you to Marbolada. The parking is at the left and there is a car wash there. hope that helps

DeleteTried the roasted meat rice and the meat was so pathetic thinly sliced. Can't even taste the crispyness of the skin. Dear boss, next time try to cut thicker slice can? ;)
