Chatting with Alexis, we recalled that curry pork ribs is a favourite of JB folks. The standard bearer is Qiu Bo Curry House in Ulu Tiram (shop has closed). Alexis shared that Multi Mart kopitiam in Taman Century also have a pretty good curry pork rib stall.
Multi Mart kopitiam is a tight space and there are a few popular stalls here. So, it is easy to miss the no name curry stall tucked away inconspicuously at the side road entrance. I've been to Multi Mart a few times and didn't notice the curry stall before 😅
The curry stall is run by Mr Foo. Mr Foo's parents used to run an economic rice stall not far from Multi Mart kopitiam. They have retired for a while. Now, Mr Foo's parents cook their popular curry dishes for their son to sell at the stall in Multi Mart.
There's curry pork ribs which Alexis recommended. Mr Foo said the pork is bought from the market everyday and his dad cut the pork himself.
Curry chicken, the only other curry dish on the menu. The fresh chicken are also market bought. So, this is literally home cooked food in every sense of the word.
Mr Foo heats up the curry pork ribs in a small clay pot and serves it bubbling hot.
The curry is aromatic, has a thick body, and tastes well balanced but just mildly sweet-savoury-spicy.
There were 5 medium to small pieces of pork ribs. The meat was tender and had natural porky sweetness.
I enjoyed this curry pork rib - perhaps not quite the benchmark Qiu Bo has set but this is still a delicious curry pork rib.
I did a good job to finish off the curry unassisted 😄 - it's not hard actually as the curry was tasty 😋
I also tried the curry chicken. I like it too - the curry is aromatic and flavourful. It is spiked with curry leaves and cloves. The chicken is tender and sweet with a bit of chicky taste.
👉 When you are in KSL and want to try local instead of more mall food, Multi Mart kopitiam is a popular choice with JB folk. When in Multi Mart, you can give curry pork ribs a try - it is a dish JB folks like. This curry stall does a tasty version of it.
Thanks Alexis for recommendation.
