My picky Singapore makan kakis (foodie buddies) have been raving about Hosay Mee Pok's noodles and also porridge for a few months already. Managed to try it today - it's really nice 😋
Hosay Mee Pok has several branches around Singapore. We went to their newest at Blk 602B, Tampines Ave 9. Happy Hawkers is a spanking new, big kopitiam (or is it small food court?).
Hosay Mee Pok offers noodles, porridge and soups (all reasonably priced with most items in the $3.50 - $6 range). We were a party of 7, so we shared a table full of everything. It's a bit of taste buds and sensory overload for me, so I just share impressions of the bites I had.
First things first, Hosay Mee Pok's mee pok.
I like it that the mee pok noodles were done soft al dente and firm enough to have a light springy crunch to the bite. There's enough sauce and oil to fully envelope the slurpy, flat curly strands with quite robust savoury spicy flavours.
There's option to dash in some aromatic black vinegar but I abstained as I am not a fan of anything sour. But, I did feel the savoury quotient can be pushed a notch further and the lardy taste can come up a bit more. Then, it will be perfect for my out-of-date uncle taste buds. Still, this mee pok and sauce have plenty of kick - actually, one of the best around as it is.
The mee pok comes with lean pork slices, minced pork, prawn paste cube, scallop, lard crackling and fried fish strip toppings.
Of all the toppings, I love the fried fish strips most because of their crispy crunch and nice savoury taste. We can get additional fried fish strip topping at $1. I recommend getting the add on.

All the porridge and soups at Hosay Mee Pok are made with this kick butt master stock made by boiling old hens, fish bones, pork bones, anchovies, clams, tee po (dried sole fish), clams etc for hours. They also toss in a secret blend of house made flavouring to add more layers to the flavours just before serving.
Get Hosay Mee Pok's porridge as the soft rice is well infused with the master stock flavours. It is loaded deep with layers upon layers of savoury sweet flavours, and then there's various toppings and add-ons which further boost the taste.
Besides the soft rice grains, the best thing inside the claypot were the thick slices of pork liver.
The pork liver were cut in thick slices (almost like small chunks) and cooked to around 95% doneness. It had a soft spongy powdery feel to the bite and a nice gentle signature liver taste. We can order a serving of liver soup for $4, which I think is a great idea for liver lovers.
Another memorable item in the porridge is Hosay Mee Pok's prawn paste which is minced prawn meat made into cubes. Tender with a soft spongy spring, the prawn paste cubes have a nice gentle prawny sweetness. If you like more prawn paste, get a bowl of prawn paste soup for $5.50.
Information for you 👌 Born and raised a Singaporean, I often subconsciously gravitate to mee pok stalls when I am in a hawker centre. Hosay Mee Pok serves a good mee pok which comes with an excellent soup. Enjoy it with their liver, fried fish strips and prawn paste. Their porridge is great too.

Tried the dry mee pok at the ABC food centre branch. Indeed nice, fresh ingredients were used, overall well above average. The fried fish strips and liver you recommended were both nice, thanks.
