Hottest Hawker Stalls @ Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre in Jurong East

Yuhua_Village_Market_Food_Centre_Jurong_East

Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre is in a public housing residential neighbourhood in Jurong East far off the tourist track and even for Singapore Eastsiders. Still, there are a few gems in this quieter side of Singapore worth the proverbial journey to the west. Most of the food are inexpensive.

Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre

Address: 254 Jurong East Street 24, Singapore 600254

Nearest MRT station: Chinese Garden

Top Most Popular Stalls

Fei Fei Roasted Noodle stall #01-28. No list about Yuhua Village is complete without mentioning Fei Fei because they sport the longest queue in this hawker centre everyday. Every. Single. Day. You can't miss it. Springy slender Hong Kong style noodles in a simple but flavourful, aromatic sauce. Wonderful juicy char siew which are freshly charcoal roasted everyday at the stall. One of the very top wanton mee stalls in Singapore in my books. This stall alone makes a trip to Jurong worth it.

Hup Hong Chicken Rice stall #01-51 is one of the best chicken rice in Singapore in their fan's eyes. Tender succulent chicken with natural chicky sweetness. The gentle savoury aromatic dressing sauce accentuates the chicken's natural flavours. Hup Hong is good in details - their rice, soup, cucumber, achar and chili sauce are all top notch to their fans (including me lah).

Other Popular Stalls

Heng Heng Cooked Food stall #01-12 is loved for their laksa with creamy rich curry, mild heat from aromatic spices and umami from dried shrimp. If you find their curry a tad mild, their savoury spicy sambal chili will come to your rescue.

Cai stall #01-14 serves various fried hor fan (broad rice noodle) dishes. Fish slices, beef, pork or prawns are served in a gooey sweet savoury sauce over stir fried rice noodles. The much coveted wok hei (toasty roasty wok sear taste) is there though in a little shy way. They have mui fan which a vanishing dish in Singapore - it is the same sweet savoury sauce with ingredients poured over plain boiled rice. An old school busy working man's one dish meal.

West Coast Arifin stall #01-41 serves roti prata, briyani, mee kuah, mutton soup, the whole works but is best known for their mee goreng. It is old school - yellow noodles stir fried in chili, spices and ketchup with lots of little knobs of mutton embedded inside making the whole dish smell and taste of lamb. Nice lah!

Yuhua_Village_Market_Food_Centre_Jurong_East

Ron Sheng Fish Head Bee Hoon stall #01-44. The thing to get here is their hand torn mee hoon kueh. For fish bee hoon soup, get their sliced fish as some folks may find the batter of their fried fish a little too thick.
Taman Jurong Food Centre also has a stall by the same name but I do not know how they are related. If you know, please share.

Yuhua_Village_Market_Food_Centre_Jurong_East

Seng Huat Handmade Fried Carrot Cake stall #01-48. One of the rare handful of carrot cake stalls that still make their own kueh (cake) from scratch. The norm in Singapore is to use factory made kueh through suppliers. For this alone, let's support uncle for keeping the flame of artisanal hawkers in Singapore alive. Nice savoury sweet fried tender chunks of carrot cake with a bit of wok hei. Sold out by 10am usually.

Xiang Ji Cooked Food stall #01-53 serves soft lumpy grainy Hainanese style porridge with many options - actually, the usual suspects of pork slices, minced pork, fish slices, century egg, raw egg, pulled chicken etc. The mildly sweet savoury porridge is further flavoured with savoury sweet cai poh (preserved radish), fried shallot and aromatic coriander topping.

Our Porridge stall #01-57 is well known for their frog leg porridge. The $7 dollar serving in a claypot may not feed two but is a huge amount of food for one. There also have a version where the frog legs are quick boiled in a claypot with a blend of dark savoury sweet sauces (price $8). This is one of the most affordable places in Singapore to indulge in this delicacy.

Mei Wei Snacks stall #01-59 is a reseller of various traditional Chinese and Malay kueh, cakes, pastries such as soon kueh, ang ku kueh, sponge cakes, ondeh ondeh, carrot cake, chee cheong fun, etc. Now they are stocking nian gao (sticky rice cake for Chinese New Year).

Zai_Shun_Curry_Fish_Head

Zai Shun Curry Fish Head is not inside the hawker centre but in a corner coffee shop in BLK 253 right next to it. Zai Shun is one of the best places in Singapore to indulge in top quality steamed fish but pay only kopitiam price for it. When you are in Yuhua Village, remember to check out Zai Shun as well. You ought to regret it if you didn't 😂

I did not mention your favourite stall(s)? First, my thousand apologies 🙏 Give me a shout out in the comments and I promise you that I will go back to Yuhua Village to try out your recommendation. I may include it in the list but if not, at the very least I will give you my view by replying to your comment. Thank you in advance.

Yuhua_Village_Market_Food_Centre

Chinese Garden is the nearest MRT station to Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre - it is about 10 minutes walk away. Yuhua Village is sometimes confused with Yuhua Place which has another market and food centre. Yuhua Place and Yuhua Village are 10 minutes walk apart. This list is for Yuhua Village not Yuhua Place (which has its own list of foodie goodies).

  1. Hi there, you should try "Sri Menanti"! It's a Malay breakfast food stall at Yuhua Village Market too, nearest to the wet market area and the drop off point!

    2. Not sure of the stall number. It is in the 2nd lane beside the corner drink stall nearest to zhai shun coffeeshop. They normally sell out by 11 am plus and closed on Tuesday.By the way, another coffee stall at the corner of the 1st lane (facing the road, nearest to the kueh shop under the low building nearby) serves good hot drinks too.

  3. You missed a big one. Facing "Our Porridge" stall you mentioned above, to the right after the alley way to the wet market, is a zichar stall which sells fried hokkien mee, pig trotters and some selected fried dishes such as fried bean paste fish head. I have been eating from this stall for 30+ years since the current owner's father's days. All dishes are really good. Most popular is the fried hokkien mee. Die die must try.

    2. I think Chaozhousi mentioned this stall is just directly behind the Fei Fei Wanton Mee, next to Soya beans and grass jelly drink stall. Sellers are 80+ year old Cantonese couple. My whole family have been patronising this stall from 1979 till now. Thumbs ups for their all types of noodles and cooked food to go with the noodles. Dumplings also delicious.
