Hungry in JB today and remembering that Jingle Bell in Johor Jaya serves bak kut teh, we dropped by at the little shop for lunch.

No Michelin Star Tai Wah Pork Noodles at Hong Lim FC 大华肉脞面 ⭐⭐⭐

This is the other 大华 bak chor mee, without the Michelin Star and sans the insane queue. Otherwise, in most other aspects, this Hong Lim Tai Wah and the other Tai Hwa at Crawford Lane are almost identical. Both have their die-hard fans.

SUMO Big Prawn, Lobster, Crayfish, La La ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

Yeah, I've been a bit obsessed with SUMO Big Prawn noodle this week. So, this was my third time at Ang Mo Kio Blk 628 food centre because my makan kakis (eating buddies) wanted to eat this prawn mee (again). Today, we went for nearly everything 😱

SUMO Big Prawn Noodle Ang Mo Kio Blk 628 Market & Food Centre ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

When SUMO Big Prawn's noodles starring their lobsters first appeared on my Facebook feed, I didn't really pay much attention. I am not a big fan of gentrification of our street food culture. But, when I saw that they also have "normal" prawn mee, I went down to Ang Mo Kio Blk 628 food centre to give SUMO Big Prawn a try.

Orang Kampung Home of Sarawak Kolo Mee in Johor JB 山顶面家 ⭐⭐⭐

Eating Sarawak style kolo mee around Johor Bahru, though each stall have their own blend of sauce and toppings, I noticed that they all have nice springy noodles that tasted and felt the same. Curious, I asked the stall holders and they told me that their supplier is in Skudai. Today, I went to the source of all kolo mee in JB (and some say Singapore) at Restoran Orang Kampung 😃

Molek Prawn Noodle in Johor Bahru JB 百合蝦麵 ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

Went to Taman Molek today to visit Molek Prawn Noodle shop after reading about it online. We started with one bowl of basic classic prawn noodle soup with small pork intestines add-on.

We first stumbled upon this little van selling traditional kueh at the Johor Jaya pasar malam (night market) last year - it caught our attention because it had the longest queue of all the kueh stalls here.

Pandan Beef Noodle 班兰牛肉丸 with a 60+ year history, is an old brand in Johor Bahru beef noodles. Pandan serves a style of beef noodles different from the more commonly found Hainanese style. I like Pandan Beef Noodles but only after I freed my mind from Hainanese style beef noodles 😝
