Da Dong in Joo Chiat is one of the highest profile traditional prawn noodle stalls in Singapore. Tried it for the first time today as I was in Joo Chiat to run an errand. I enjoyed it as I like its robust savoury umami soup.

The Other 545 Whampoa Prawn Mee @ Whampoa Food Centre · 黃埔蝦麵

Being a long time fan of 545 Whampoa Prawn Mee in Tekka Market, I had long wanted to try the same name prawn mee stall in 91 Whampoa Drive Food Centre. The two stalls are related - the Tekka stall is run by third generation owner Li Ruifang and the 91 Whampoa stall by her aunt (a second generation owner). While the Tekka stall has a high media profile, the Whampoa stall hardly gets a mention.

We met up at Telok Blangah Drive Food Centre, tried a few food stalls including the popular Seng Huat prawn mee. It's old school, generously portioned, tasty, and excellent value.

Prawn & Mee @ Bedok Central 216 • New Gen Hawkers Bridging Traditional & Contemporary with New Twists on an Old Comfort Dish

Back today at Pasar 216 Bedok Central, one of my favourite food centres in Singapore with lots of hawker gems. One of the well established stalls here with a constant queue is Prawn & Mee run by new generation hawkers Gladwin Yap and Raphael Sim who are Culinary Institute of America degree graduates.

Was running errands near the Golden Mile Food Centre area, I opted for the famous chili mee by Chung Cheng Chilli Prawn Noodles for lunch today. Though I never developed a craving for the spicy noodle dish, it is a nice option I enjoy occasionally for its comforting old school flavours, especially when the queue isn't too long 🌶

Stumbled upon Bendemeer Prawn Noodle stall while stalking hawkers at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre. They serve an old school prawn noodle that appeal to the residents here at the mature HDB estate, hence the constant queue at the stall. I enjoyed the comforting level of crustacean savoury flavours and punchy sambal chili though its soup lacks the thick gao gao body and extreme umami of in-trend Singapore prawn mee of today.

Finally made a trip to Blk 44 Bendemeer Road to taste the no name prawn mee stall at Foodprints Hoe Seng F & B kopitiam. Members of Can Eat! Hawker Food Facebook group know this as the group HQ - an icon of "can eat" hawker food in Singapore 😄

We were on a food trail at block 45 Sims Drive, Sheng Hui coffee shop. Geylang Laksa Prawn Noodles (Since 1964) stall wasn't on our eat-list but we bumped into another buddy Kwok Peng who pointed it out to us. Turned out that this was the most memorable dish I had at this stop 😄

In today's Singapore, prawn noodle is a popular dish but there seems to be an obsession with big, big, big. Big prawns, big umami kick, big portions. I love today's big, big, big style too but find going back to basics sometimes refreshing and just as satisfying. For a delicious, down-to-earth prawn mee, I go to Wee's Family Coffeeshop at block 117, Bedok Reservoir Road. Price $3.90 a serving in 2022.

Buddy DJ is a big fan of Prawnaholic stall at Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, so we met up there this morning. DJ was right, I was quite blown away by Prawnaholic's modern prawnographic take on our humble old prawn noodle.

Went to Da Shi Jia Big Big Big Prawn Noodle 大食家大大大虾面 at Killiney Road for lunch today. We had the basic Big Eater Prawn Mee and the Big Eater Big Prawn White Bee Hoon. I enjoyed both dishes and was especially delighted with the Big Prawn White Bee Hoon.

Prawn Village 虾乡味 🦐 Best in Ghim Moh Food Centre List CLOSED

My first time at Prawn Village 虾乡味 since the popular Penang prawn mee stall moved from Golden Mile to Ghim Moh hawker centre over a year ago.

CLOSED Back at Wah Kee Big Prawn Noodles 華記大蝦麵 at the Esplanade Mall after almost exactly one year (since it opened here. Wah Kee was founded in 1951 and the parent stall is still in operation at Pek Kio hawker centre).

Yeah, I've been a bit obsessed with SUMO Big Prawn noodle this week. So, this was my third time at Ang Mo Kio Blk 628 food centre because my makan kakis (eating buddies) wanted to eat this prawn mee (again). Today, we went for nearly everything 😱

It's all brudder Carelairfare's fault lah - post those food porn of SUMO Big Prawn Noodle. So, today I buay tahan (cannot resist) have to make an unplanned trip on a rainy morning to Ang Mo Kio Blk 628 food centre to satisfy my craving.
