ORIENT Watch Driveaway 2016 Singapore 🚘 Tangkak 🚘 Seremban

The ORIENT Watch dealers of Singapore went on the annual ORIENT Driveaway 2016 for 2 days and 1 night from 2-3 Sept. The Driveaway took the party of 40 people from Singapore to Seremban (Malaysia), stopping over at Tangkak.

Ivy's Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup, Pasir Panjang, Singapore ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

We were hungry around Pasir Panjang and decided to popped by Pasir Panjang Food Centre for lunch. There are about 50 food stalls here, and we opted for Ivy's Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup as we all love the opportunity to have Chinese style mutton soup which is getting really scarce in Singapore - we can count them all with the fingers on one hand 😱

Taman Jurong 58 Minced Pork Noodles Singapore ⭐⭐⭐

Popped over to Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre this sunny morning on my way for an appointment in Singapore's west. There are about 100 food stalls in this old 3-storey market cum hawker centre with 58 Minced Meat Noodles 五十八肉脞面 (bak chor mee) probably the most famous.

I am often asked where to get Halal dim sum in Johor Bahru. These pork free dim sum at Xin Shan Long restaurant at La Grandeur Palm Resort Johor is not certified Halal - it uses no pork, no lard. I like how the chefs here rely on fresh ingredients and use them innovatively to create flavourful pork free dim sum.

Monday Pasar Malam Night Market @ KSL Mall · Taman Century Johor Bahru

The Monday evening pasar malam at Taman Century is busy with locals and Singapore tourists because there are about 100 stalls of all kinds, and it is conveniently located near hotels and eateries. The KSL pasar malam began in the 1970s and is still as popular as ever today. All the stalls are simply lined up in a straight line along Jalan Seladang, starting at KSL City Mall.

Lao Wu Rojak Jalan Seroja Johor Jaya JB 老吴啰吔 ⭐⭐⭐

Lao Wu rojak 老吴啰吔 is one of the best loved and most famous rojak stalls in Johor Bahru. This little mobile stall is located at Jalan Seroja 24 in Taman Johor Jaya from day 1 when old Mr Goh 老吴 arrived in JB nearly 30 years ago.

Pasar Malam Tangkak Johor ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

This was my first time visiting the pasar malam in Tangkak which opens only on Saturday night. I was a guest of Orient Driveaway 2016 and Pasar Malam Tangkak was the last stop before the convoy of 11 cars return to Singapore via Gelang Patah.

Wanton Noodle at Setia Tropika Johor Bahru 豪記茶餐室 ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

I stumbled upon this little wanton mee stall at Setia Tropika some time back and have since like to come here when I am passing near by - e.g. when I am heading north on the North-South Expressway or have errands to run around here.

这家在 Setia Tropika 豪記茶餐室里面, 看来平凡的卖云吞面的小档口. 我有路过这里的时候都会在这里吃早餐. 我喜欢这家的全蛋面弹牙. 也喜欢他家自制的豆腐. 水水的口感又有豆香. 云吞皮薄肉香. 这家的汤头也很美味. 朋友们路过 Setia Tropika 不妨试试.

Ungku Mohsin Wanton Mee & Laksa 翁姑慕申云吞面.辣沙 ⭐⭐⭐✱✱

Kampung Ungku Mohsin is one of the popular stalls in Johor Bahru serving an old style of wanton mee with tofu and fishballs in addition to the usual wantons and char siew. This is a style I've not seen in Singapore and I've come to love it too.
