Locals call it 大马粿条仔 Da Ma Kuey Teow Kia for short. Now named Da Ma Kway Teow, the brand has six outlets (as at 2025) - this post is about the original outlet at Taman Sri Tebrau 大马花园 where it got its name.
阿祥 Ah Xiang, the third generation at the helm in 2012
The old style 古早味 braising stock of Sri Tebrau kway teow kia is dark, savoury and just delicately herbal (with 14 spices according to Ah Xiang). The braising stock is not too oily, and is tasty and highly drinkable. The braising stock is also not loaded with salt or MSG - I did not thirst even after slurping it all up.
I especially like the naturally sweet taste of Sri Tebrau kway teow kia's braised pork and offal.
Sri Tebrau's braised pork and offal have a delightful, springy bite and texture. The braised pork and offal have just the right delicately chewy feel that is neither rubbery, too soft nor hard.
Dip the chewy, bouncy pork and offal in the braising stock and this chili sauce, and I got one of the tastiest kway teow kia that I have tasted so far.

Da Ma Kway Teow story as told by lady founder Mdm 陈瑞兰 (Ah Xiang's maternal grandmother).
Vintage brand Sri Tebrau Da Ma kway teow kia is definitely holding its own as one of the best kway teow kia in JB.

DeleteThe best time to go eat this is before 12 noon, as it gets crowded after that time. By 1 pm most of the items would have been sold out.
