Lemon Tree Kulai - Family Friendly Restaurant near Johor Premium Outlet and AEON Jusco
Met up with my friend Puan Chong and her family at the new Lemon Tree outlet in Kulai. We are all fans of Lemon Tree in Taman Melody and decided to have lunch at their new Kulai outlet. I also wanted to visit Chef Jeffrey whom I first met at Lemon Tree's parent outlet in Taman Melody.
The once quiet "upstate" Kulai is the new F & B frontier following the opening of tourist attractions Johor Premium Outlet and the AEON Jusco mall.
Lemon Tree's new Kulai outlet is headed by Jason (left) who is Chef Jeffrey's nephew. Youthful Jason has been working at Lemon Tree for many years, initially helping out in the kitchen during school holidays when he was in primary school.
Just one month since opening in Kulai, Lemon Tree is already popular with families as the full house attests.
There were 8 of us in the party so we ordered a variety of different dishes to share.
Chef Jeffrey highly recommends this Seafood Mee Mamak (RM9.80) cooked with his grandma's sambal recipe. Jeffrey's grandma is Peranakan, so there is some Nyonya influence in Lemon Tree's local dishes.
Lemon Tree's mee mamak is just gently spicy, so everyone in the family can enjoy it.
This Kampung Fried Rice (RM6.80) is another of Jeffrey's grandma's recipe. It is also Puan Chong's favourite. I also enjoyed it as it has nice gently savoury spicy sweet flavours, and the nutty rice grains were light and loose. Jason fried this rice very well.
House made cream of mushroom soup made with a few different types of real mushrooms for layers of flavours and textures (RM5.50).
This Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio (RM13.80) is one my favourite dishes at Lemon Tree.
Lemon Tree's popular Spaghetti Carbonara (RM10.80).
This creamy savoury sweet pasta is happy Meryl's favourite :-D
Island Seafood Pizza is another favourite of Puan Chong's family.
It's got the thumbs up from our most important person :-D
I ordered Lemon Tree's signature grilled chicken chop (RM9.80) which was on the menu with the same recipe since Lemon Tree first opened in 2003.
I also ordered this Braised Lamb Shank (RM38.80) as I love lamb dishes.
Puan Chong's family are not big fans of lamb because of it's gaminess. But, after trying Lemon Tree's braised lamb shank, they liked it as there was very little gamey taste in the tender meat.
The lamb was tender with a nice bite as it was not braised till mushy soft. The savoury sweet sauce and lamb flavours were very mild - personally, I like my lamb to have a more assertive gamey taste.
After the scrumptious main courses, we indulged in a few of Lemon Tree's sweet desserts.
Creme Brulee RM10.90.
Matcha Tiramisu RM12.90.
Tiramisu RM12.90.
We all love Lemon Tree's sweet desserts.
Volcano Chocolate Lava Cake RM14.90.
Thank you Puan Chong for the treat and special guest appearance by Meryl :-D
->> We enjoyed our time together. Lemon Tree is a great place for meet ups. The ambiance is cheerful, the interior is comfortable, family friendly and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Service is attentive and friendly too.
