Last night, the Singapore Chefs Association held it's annual dinner at Orchard Hotel Singapore. It was great family time for members and guests to mingle, catch up with old friends and make new connections to mark the end of another fruitful year for Singapore chefs.
Around 750 chefs and guests packed the grand ballroom at Orchard Hotel.
In his address, SCA President Chef Edmund Toh recapped the Association's considerable achievements during the year and encouraged members to keep up the great work into the new year.
Singapore chefs achieved top placings at the AEC Culinary Challenge in Thailand, Angliss Professional Culinary Chefs Challenge, World Association of Chefs Societies Global Chefs Challenge Asia, World Pastry Cup, Top Patissier Asia, Philippines Culinary Cup, Young Tiger Cup at Food and Hotel Malaysia.
Besides competitions, Singapore chefs were also active in charity drives and educational initiatives. The SCA also conducted several popular recreational activities for members and their families.
Formalities over, the party was treated to a sumptuous and scrumptious dinner hosted by Chef Vincent Aw and his team at Orchard Hotel.
I can only imagine the pressure in the kitchen :-D
This is a huge and friendly group of peers and friends but also with the most discerning taste buds :-D Chef Vincent Aw and team were more than equal to the challenge - needless to say, the food was great!
All the live stations had good support and all the food I tasted were delicious, including from this busy curry laksa stand :-D
The colourful dessert table was impressive.
Chef Tony Khoo (representing WorldChefs without Borders) briefed the party on the impressive heartwarming achievements of the Singapore chapter - chefs without borders but with lots of heart. ECWB is active in disaster relief like during Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Of course, SCA's accomplishments are possible thanks to generous support from the sponsors, and tonight they were honoured with tokens of appreciation presented by SCA President Edmund Toh.
Join the party.
