I must have passed by here many or least a few times before. Restoran Lido, the old school type of Malayan kopitiam where all communities come to relak one corner.
While I was taking photos, the unkers around me said this place has been around for at least half a century.
Besides the drinks sold by the coffee shop owner, there was only one tenant food stall, Lan Roti Canai.
Lan is a friend of the roti Canai stall at the nearby Johor Jaya morning market (known as Roti Canai Lido).
The menu.
It's the Malay type of roti Canai which uses Planta i.e. margerine instead of ghee.
I just ordered a kosong to try as I am going around to try a few stalls this morning.
The pan fried bread was slightly browned, crisp outside, non greasy which I like.
The inside was tender, subtly moist, soft chewy. It's a nice contrast of light crisp and soft chewy.

It has a slight wheat floury flavour like cream crackers. A nostalgic flavour which I like.
No matter how impoverished we were, we still had this custom of tea with a hot beverage and a snack, often a coffee / milo and cream cracker.
The dhal was thick, sweetish and lightly spiced. There's a dollop of nasi lemak type sambal with anchovy umami savouriness, a bit of chili heat and onion sweetness.
Not mind blowing but this is tasty everyday comfort food.
The daily roti Canai crowd speaks for itself.
