Today, we found a new place in Johor to drink toddy - at Nesa Relax Cafe in Kangkar Pulai.
So far in Johor, our regular toddy place is in downtown JB.
Nesa Relax Cafe is in a standalone building at Kampung Nesa in Kangkar Pulai, hence its name. It is near to Taman Universiti.
Plenty of car parking and places to relax one corner with the coconut trees just behind.
Good toddy needs to be fresh. So how fresh is the toddy at Nesa Relax Cafe?
The coconut trees are right there at the cafe. Toddy is the sap from sliced coconut flower bud which is collected in a container and allowed to ferment overnight.
The toddy is harvested here every day at 11am and 4pm.
We can enjoy our toddy at the little sheds outside, at the veranda of the cafe....
Or, inside which is like a little restaurant.
Place your order at the counter with the friendly staff outside.
One jug RM28.
Note the time on the clock behind. 11:20am. Freshly harvested toddy in chilled clay cups. Swee lah!
The toddy was cloudy, flowed like water, had a subtle sweet flora fragrance.
Tastes sweet tangy with a natural refreshing fizz. Contains roughly 5% alcohol.
Nice. Burp... .
They serve a small menu of south Indian dishes such as curry chicken. We just ordered masala ubi (tapioca) which we never had before.
We all liked it. Salty mildly spicy masala, some of it infused the tender subtly sweet tapioca. Nice toddy food.
We called for a top up 😂 🤭
I talked too much already lah. Toddy lovers don't need any convincing. They only need the address.
So, here it is.
