Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao Dumpling · Tourist Favourite Michelin Approved @ Chinatown Food Centre 中国拉面小笼包

I have long been curious about this tourist and Michelin Guide approved Shanghai food stall in Singapore's Chinatown food centre. I never tried it before because I was always put off by the long snaking queue. (They have the longest queue of over 200 food stalls in Chinatown hawker centre now. Longer than Hawker Chan.)

Review of Pang's Satay @ Chinatown Complex Food Centre ● Hainanese Satay in Singapore

I am always on the lookout for places that make their own satay as most stalls now use factory made satay that taste uniformly flat 🤷‍♂️ So, I am grateful to buddy Ben who alerted me to Pang's Satay in Chinatown Complex Food Centre. Ben even ordered some for his parties and I liked them. I finally made a trip to Chinatown last evening to taste Pang's satay, smoking hot off the charcoal grill at the stall.

Old Chinatown residents know about the legendary braised duck stall Run Ji Cooked Food 润记熟食 ran by Mdm Hor Ng Mei 何五妹, better known as Mei Jie 妹姐. Run Ji was The Braised Duck stall of Chinatown and one of the best in Singapore.

Duo Ji Chinatown Chee Cheong Fun • Uglylicious Good 多記馳名豬腸粉芋頭糕

Ah Wah, my old school mate went to queue for Duo Ji Chee Cheong Fun which she had since her childhood. The wait was long but worth it for that nostalgic old school taste and smell. 169 Hainanese Chicken Rice • Silky Smooth, Juicy Soft Chicken, Top Notch Rice @ Chinatown Food Centre

169_Hainanese_Chicken_Rice_Chinatown

✍ 13 Sep 2022. After my MRI at National Heart Centre today, I took a short walk to Chinatown Complex Food Centre, about 10 minutes away. Yeah..., I walk everywhere even if sometimes it is not within walking distance for most people. I walked from Eunos to Chinatown a few times (stop, eat, go, repeat). I walked many cities around the world this way but that's a story for another post.

Anyway, it was worth the short walk as today I was rewarded with an excellent chicken rice.

Sun Seng Gourmet's Corner Zhi Char Stall in Chinatown Complex · I was Still Burping Serious Wok Hei when I Got Home 🤭

Sun_Seng_Zhi_Char_Chinatown_Complex

The thing about Chinatown Complex is there are simply too many good Cantonese zhi char stalls, so much so that some great stalls remained under the radar as undiscovered gems. If you Google for Sun Seng now (2021), there is hardly any mention of this little zhi char stall with at least 50 years of history. After tasting their food for the first time today, we all fell in love with it. Their food is delicious and prices very affordable.

Lin Da Qiang & Mr. Fish · Why Chinatown Complex is a Foodie Paradise 林大强 & 魚

Lin_Da_Qiang_林大强_Mr_Fish_魚

Life is like that 🤔 The day didn't start as planned but everything turned out better than expected in the end. Just stay calm and eat on!

Our original plan was to eat at the legendary Cooked Food & Claypot Kitchen stall in Chinatown Complex. The plan was simple - whoever arrived first, order for our party of 5 (CF&CK don't take phone in orders).

I arrived one hour ahead and promptly joined the queue. When I was 5 pax from the front of the queue, it suddenly dispersed. Lady boss announced, "Booked out for the day!" 😱

That's that 😓 🤷

Wa Kuih is a rare dish in Singapore, whether at home or in hawker centres. It is a humble dish originally from China's Fujian province. Today, it is mostly associated with Taiwanese street food.  Ah Kong Wa Kuih in Chinatown Complex is one of the rare few (five?) Wa Kuih stalls in Singapore.

Yuan Lang Chicken Master @ Stall #02-027 Chinatown Complex Food Centre 元朗鸡博士

✍ 23 Jun 2025. Stalking Chinatown Complex this rainy Monday morning, I stumbled upon this beautiful sight (bevy of cooked chicken attracts me somehow 🤭 ).

Most stalls, shutters down, were taking a break this morning or not open yet at this hour (8am).
