If you come to Chinatown Complex food centre, and want to lim kopi (drink
Nanyang coffee) - don't need to consider - just head straight for Lim's Cafe
at stall #02-31.
Stall name: Lim's Cafe
Address: 335 Smith Street, stall #02-31, Singapore 050335 (Chinatown
Complex)
Nearest MRT: Chinatown station
Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Weds off)
Yeah lah, Lim's is not the first to brew freshly ground Robusta beans with a shiny espresso machine - that honour belongs to Kopi More of Golden Mile.
But, Lim's is the only one in Chinatown Complex now. (Another one is Generation Coffee in Tekka Centre. Are there any more in Singapore? Please
share in comments ๐ ).
This was not my first time at Lim's (stall opened
three years ago). The previous times, my kopi C kosong just felt like it
was a "me too", also ran.
Today's kopi C kosong was quite delightful
actually. Got thick crema, got rich, smooth body, got toasty aroma, and
nice robust savoury sweet taste with subtle bitter notes in the
aftertaste. This will be my default Chinatown coffee especially since my fav coffee boss in Chinatown has hung up his kopi socks for good.
I asked boss Lim, what has he changed? He said nothing
changed, "You din come for too long already" ๐
๐คฃ. Boss Lim said his beans
"doesn't have anything added". I think he meant it doesn't have bulk
fillers like corn which would make it more bitter and ashy.
Now, in
Chinatown Complex, I don't need to risk my caffeine quota on ashy hot
water masquerading as Nanyang kopi. Pure coffee at $1.50, it is a steal.
