Curry Laksa @ Chay Lai Coffee Shop in Skudai, Johor

I have been asked how would I know where to get good food? Well, one of the means is through recommendations from local people.

This curry laksa is recommended by my barber J

Chay Lai coffee shop is one of those "walk pass shops" i.e. nondescript, no buzz shop in a sleepy street corner. It is an unheralded stall in Skudai known only to people who live and work in the vicinity of the shop.

This RM4 bowl of laksa has everything the famous stalls have. Taste wise it is also about the same standard as those highly favoured ones.

Chay Lai's curry laksa is in the usual Johor style. Spicy but not overwhelmingly lemak (rich with coconut milk) and loaded with fried tofu, fish ball, pork ball, fish cake slices, cockles, egg and taugeh (bean sprouts). Basically, a tasty, filling yet affordable meal for workers in the area.

If you are in the MPJBT (Skudai) area needing a basic, quick, filling and tasty meal, this could be it for you, as it is for my barber.
