I was invited to taste the 6 course modern European set dinner menu by The Clan Restaurant at Pomo Mall at Selegie Road in Singapore. It was a scrumptious meal, made with premium ingredients, well executed, professionally served by attentive staff in a comfortable, well appointed restaurant. Stumbled upon this really good ikan bakar stall today at BR 新国花 coffee shop in Permas Jaya. I've been here at BR coffee shop a few times before but somehow missed this 999 Ikan Bakar stall. It's one of my favourite ikan bakar stalls in Malaysia and Singapore now. For lucky JB folks, this brilliant stall in Permas Jaya is so accessible 😄

Johor Bahru Classical Music Festival 2016 - Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) presents One Thousand and One Nights JK1530

Last night (19 Jun 2016) the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) performed at Johor Bahru's Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios to bring the JB Classical Music Festival 2016 to a crescendo and magnificent close. It was a fitting finale to 5 days of classical music extravaganza beginning on 15 Jun which took the JB arts, culture, and music scene to a new high.

Bazar Ramadan Jalan Badik 21, Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram

During the Muslim Holy Month, Bazar Ramadan are set up all over Malaysia, in every corner of the country. There are large ones with over a hundred stalls that attract even tourists to come and try traditional local dishes. There are also smaller bazaars with just one or two rows of stalls serving the local community living near the bazaar.

Today, I was at the Bazar Ramadan at Jalan Badik 21, Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram which is some 15km north of Johor Bahru.

Small and intimate bazaars can be a lot of fun too. Let's see what they have here.

Stumbled upon this little wanton mee stall at Jalan Beladau 15 in Taman Puteri Wangsa. If you are in the area which is bustling with numerous eateries, this wanton mee stall is worth a try.

Actually, we were already done for the day's heavy bout of food hunting and our stomachs were full when we passed by Lai Hing bak kut teh (which locals know as Sam Mei 三美). I've not seen a bak kut teh shop so crowded before (other than Johor's Kiang Kee 强记).

Full as we were, with a crowd like this. we just couldn't leave Port Klang without trying Sam Mei 三美 bak kut teh.

If you are a fish ball lover, every time you drive pass Yong Peng town along Malaysia's North South Expressway, I suggest you make a stop at Bebola Ikan Anthony for their hand made ikan parang fish balls.

Ramadan Bazar Kuala Lumpur Bangsar Telawi 4

Visited the Ramadan Bazar at Bangsar, Jalan Telawi 4 this evening which is one of my old haunts. I used to come to the Sunday pasar malam here, and of course, the Ramadan bazar during the Muslim holy month.

Mo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh Legend of Klang 毛山稿肉骨茶

It has to happen. I must make a pilgrimage to the flag bearers of Klang style bak kut teh -  one of them is Mo Sang Kor. The premier bak kut teh shop has outlets at Taman Berkerley and Pandamaran. We opted for the old parent stall shack at Pandamaran. (Update: They have only two modern shops now - this parent stall is no longer in operation. This post was written based on the parent stall which is a road side shack.)

Went to Klang today to hunt for bak kut teh. Driving around the old town, we stumbled upon a familiar bak kut teh shop, the one which I used to eat at when I was working in KL over a decade ago.

Restoran Do Do Do 东甲肥仔牛腩面 in Tangkak is my regular stopover between JB and KL. Tangkak is near mid way between JB and KL, and Do Do Do serves beef in ways which we cannot get anywhere else.

I think people from Shahe would never imagine what happened to their staple food when it came to Malaysia. After stumbling upon Ah Hua in Stulang Laut and enjoyed their fish ball noodles back in 2012, Ah Hua moved and I lost track of the stall ever since. I quickly made my way down to Ah Hua for that long lost feeling of tasting their famed hand made fish balls.
