Restoran Do Do Do 东甲肥仔牛腩面 in Tangkak is my regular stopover between JB and KL. Tangkak is near mid way between JB and KL, and Do Do Do serves beef in ways which we cannot get anywhere else.
Do Do Do is a bright, cool and breezy place off the NSE (North South Expressway) just 3 minutes from the Tangkak toll plaza. So, it's quite a natural place to pull over for toilet, coffee and perhaps the best beef in Johor (some say Malaysia, Singapore and Batam).
Both buddy Aaron and I had eaten at Do Do Do many times before yet we were still so looking forward to eating here again today.
We were on a food trail from JB to Yong Peng, Tangkak and KL. I let buddy Aaron decide on the order as he is the more fanatical foodie 😄
We got this large pot of steamed beef which Aaron was so looking forward to - we were talking about this since we started planning this trip months ago.
The chunks of beef were in a tea coloured watery stock which tasted beefy sweet. It was so deliciously drinkable.
The chunks of beef were from local yellow cows, fresh and never chilled 温体肉. The tenderly juicy meat had a subtle squeakiness to the bite. There was a subtle milky taste underlying the sweet beefy taste which I love.
Thoughts of it can generate a craving that pulls one into Do Do Do when one is in that zone between JB and KL. Taste Do Do Do's beef once, and every time you pass by this way, you will have that internal struggle, to stop or drive on by 😂
Always enjoyed the tender smooth springy jelly-like bite of beef tendon - is it because I am a Cantonese? 😜
Boss Mr Loh 羅 makes a mean Nanyang coffee. I didn't take any picture of the kopi O because I didn't expect much except a dose of caffeine. Turned out it was tastily packed with flavour and punch.
Recommended for you 👍 Unique steamed fresh beef available only at Do Do Do - so beef lovers, there you have it 😄

Dropped by Restoran Do Do Do today on the way from JB to KL. We conserved our stomach space, endured a bit of famishedness till we arrived at Tangkak which is nearly 2 hours drive from JB because we wanted to feast on Do Do Do's famous beef dishes. The drive from JB to KL has never been more enjoyable :-D
Do Do Do is a beef specialist - beef, beef, and more beef - beef soup, claypot beef, steamed beef.
Lady boss Mdm Teo and her husband Fei Zai 肥仔 learnt their craft from their Hainanese master twenty years ago and later developed beef dishes of their own. From traditional Hainanese beef noodle soup, Do Do Do made a name for themselves with their signature claypot beef dishes and steamed beef specialities.
We started with Do Do Do's beef noodle soup.
It's a good old Hainanese beef noodle soup. The soft rice ribbon noodles (kway teow) and meaty beef soaked in a beefy tea coloured herbal broth. The beefy meat, tripe and tendon were all tender and juicy with beefy flavour and sweetness.
Do Do Do's traditional Hainanese beef noodle soup is good but what really set Do Do Do apart for me are their claypot beef and steamed beef dishes.
After the old school soup, we had Do Do Do's Claypot Spicy Beef 酒炒牛肉. It's various beef cuts in a claypot with a scoop of brandy.
The beef with spring onion is tossed in the hot claypot with the brandy before eating.
The same tender juicy meat cubes, tripe and tendon in a savoury spicy sauce with beefiness and brandy notes.
Round three, Do Do Do's bubbling hot Claypot Beef.
The beef comes in a full bodied broth with savoury sweet herbal flavours and beefiness. Except for the beefiness, this broth reminds me of the herbal type of bak kut teh.
In this dish, the beef is sliced in thick flat big slices. The marbled meat was tender, juicy and beefy - really lovely for beef eaters.
Do Do Do's fried tofu skin still has a delightful soft crisp even though it is dripping wet from soaking in the beefy herbal broth.
After the third round, we were still not willing to leave yet. But, we couldn't find anything sufficiently light to slot in in that last remaining space in our tummy. Would have loved to try the steamed beef (we had that in 2012) but have to leave it for the next round as we were over 3/4 tank full already.
So we happily settled for another round of Claypot Beef - it's superb (what law of diminishing returns? :-D ).
Remember to try Do Do Do's unique chili sauce. It's a layered spiciness of chili peppers, ginger and a few spices delivering a sharp spicy sting.
Our bill for our very satisfying brunch came to RM61.50 in total.
👍 One of my favourite beef places in Malaysia and Singapore. Plenty of full bodied beefiness in all of Do Do Do's beef dishes. A must try place for beef eaters.
For beef eaters, Do Do Do in Tangkak is probably the ideal stop over for the drive between KL and JB, or JB and Malacca. Do Do Do is just 1 minute drive from the Tangkak toll (Exit 235). Once you paid your toll, head towards Muar, look up that very moment and Do Do Do is there - it is hard to miss :-D
The large corner shop is airy and spacious. There is also an air conditioned section at the adjacent shop lot.

Do Do Do beef 东甲肥仔牛腩面 is one of those famous must-try restaurants for foodies.
Do Do Do offers a lot more than just good beef noodles – they serve beef in a variety of other interesting ways, namely, clear beef soup, claypot beef, stir fried beef in red rice wine, and steamed beef.

Gummy yummy - juicy and tender beef tendons |
Succulent tender beef chunks |
The delicious large chunks of beef and tendons were smooth and tender – nothing gets annoyingly caught between the teeth J It has that subtle herbal taste and flavour, and was naturally sweet - without that characteristic beef smell.
The steamed beef was really special – I have not eaten this anywhere else. The beef was thinly sliced. The paper thin tender beef literally melts in your mouth and it has a unique smoky taste and feel. As this dish uses only a special cut of beef, it requires pre-ordering by phone.
Try Do Do Do if you have not before, this is a beef restaurant like no other. As for me, I have to be back for that famous red wine stir fried beef :-D, and that photo of the shop front which I forgot to take as it was raining :-D
