One of the best food experiences I like about New York City is to dart into the warmth of a hole-in-the-wall pizza shop and take out a slice of pizza. Yes, many pizza shops in NYC sell pizza by the slice. There is no need to buy a whole pie.
This tiny pizzeria along Prince Street in SoHo, simply named Prince Street Pizza is typical of ubiquitous small pizza joints in NYC.
Inside Prince Street Pizza, the rustic space is small and narrow. "Intimate" in public relations language.
But, it's a NYC eating experience to eat your pizza slice in a crowded pizzeria on a ledge or bar table, standing or perched on a high bar stool.
I enjoyed this authentic feel, a lot.
Prince Street Pizza has several types of pizzas and toppings, so it's a good friendly place to explore and taste pizzas.
The pizzas are freshly baked on premise and the squares or slices are baked and crisped again before serving.
I tried this Sicilian Square at USD3.95.
I love the delightfully ultra crispy, light, airy bite of this Sicilian square pizza.
The back of the pizza. You can see that golden brown crisp.
The mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce topping was mildly savoury with sweet notes. Personally, I like my pizza with a thicker, gooey and more moist spread on top. Next time, I shall ask for a more juicy type or add juicy toppings like roasted peppers.
Next time, the Spicy Spring pizza with coins of pepperoni.
I will definitely be back. Prince St. Pizza is so convenient in SoHo at the main tourist/ shopping belt and that crisp is oh.... so.... so.... delightfully addictive.
