Orange and Teal Café is on level two of Rochester Mall. I got up here using the lift but there must be escalators somewhere 😄

I was among the first customers to step into Orange and Teal Café this morning. The first thing that struck me was how homely and cosy it felt.

It's not a large c
afé but the comfortable furnishings were well spaced out. I like the warm wood flooring and orange and teal colour walls. The big red reading chair, book case and piano set a relaxing tone to the entire space.

I learnt today that teal is a cyan-green colour named after a North American duck known as a teal with cyan-green feathers on its head. Image of a teal courtesy of Wikipedia.

The cafe was simply but tastefully dressed for Christmas. The air was filled with the aroma of roasting beef from the kitchen and mellow Christmas melodies. It felt like homes in Ang Moh land during Christmas (memories of white Christmases past in Canada).

The lunch menu wasn't very extensive - basically a choice of roast beef, smoked salmon and baked turkey served different ways.

Menu and ordering was App based which is convenient, for the tech savvy - there was no paper menu. We ordered a few mains for five of us to share.

Linguine Aglio e Olio with Roast Sirloin. The pasta was done soft al dente. The roast beef was tender, juicy, savoury but wasn't beefy in flavour.

Truffle Linguine Aglio e Olio with Salad. Again soft al dente pasta, this time with lots of greens and "truffle" oil dressing.

Roast Sirloin Panini. The beef was tender but tasted mainly savoury salty from the blanket of melted cheese. The bread was soft chewy.

Traditional Roast Turkey Breast. The turkey breast was tender and dominant flavour was savoury salty from the brown sauce.

Buffalo Wings. The sauce and seasoning tasted sourish salty.

Overall, the food we had felt typical of similar cafes in Singapore. From what we had, there was no stand out memorable dish nor was there any dish we particularly disliked. (We didn't see their signatures - baked beef brisket, creamy butter salmon, poulet rosti or crispy grilled chicken in today's lunch menu.)

We paid $26 each for our share of the food and a round of coffee. Oh, my flat white was a little weak on flavour and aroma.

The cafe filled up as we ate our lunch and there were lots of banter like in a dim sum shop. T
he busy service staff remained positive and responsive to our requests throughout. Some seemed inexperienced but were enthusiastic, sincere and earnest.
