During food spotting this morning at Taman Skudai Baru, I stumbled upon
this scene of customers spilling onto the road outside Restoran Haw Yi
好谊. Thrilled by the possibility of another good food find, I took a closer look.
The restaurant was filled to capacity inside.
Everywhere I looked, every corner and every chair was
taken.
Workers were frantically juggling these huge rattan steaming trays.
Without any hesitation, we decided to check out what is drawing in
the customers at Haw Yi's.
The moment we sat down, the hardworking workers quickly presented us
their impressive selection of tim sum.
We could not help but chose only a few of our favourites though
we were totally spoilt for choice.
Brinjal (egg plant) with fish paste filling |
Bitter gourd with fish paste filling
Chili with fish paste filling |
Fried yam dumpling with char siew (roast pork) filling
Deep fried and steamed chicken feet
Steamed minced pork and shrimp dumpling
Deep fried honey pork ribs
These tim sum dishes costs between RM2.80 to RM3 each (2012 prices).
Haw Yi 好谊 opens for business at 6:00am (closed on Weds). So if you are
in Skudai and is looking for a big breakfast with a wide selection of tim
sum at competitive prices, Haw Yi could be the right choice for
you.
This is an old post that needs updating. Please share any new information you have in the comments. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteThanks Sutheina. Yes, there are many places that I have yet to cover - Johor has so many goodies. You can find some like the Kolam Air laksa which I covered by searching the labels by type of food, location or name of restaurant. I will be updating this blog with more Johor goodies ;D
ReplyDeleteWent to HawYi on 4th Jun13. I strongly recommend this place the bao are delicious
ReplyDeletePrice is reasonable and boss is customer oriented. I ta pao some buns before I finished my dish before I settle the bill, she offer to change my bun for hot ones. Definitely going there if I wanna eat dim sum.
Sept 2014..was quite disappointed with the quality..if u're a pork lover, then go try..pretty heavy on pork..for better quality ones, try chang man perhaps. Even Gim Cheng is better than this..
