Ankee is busy especially during weekends and public holidays.
They have an efficient ordering system where we just point 👉 what we want and the staff will scan it into our orders.
After that, the staff will give us a laminated ticket. Just take it with you into the restaurant.
The restaurant was full house today during lunch. Decor is typical of Malaysian shoplot eateries. It's an interesting, comfortable hyperlocal eating experience.
Leave your ticket on your table so that the staff can find you and deliver the correct orders to you.
Sneak peep at the frenetic kitchen through the counter window 😬
The freshly fried traditional pork filled bitter gourd came first. It was good.
The pork stuffing was soft-tender, moist and sweet - sweeter than most that I have come across so far. Didn't detect any salted fish. The bittergourd was fried till soft but still juicy. It was sweet with a subtle bitterness which I like.
Get one for each person 😝
I ordered my yong tau foo sans the carbs 😬
The curry was watery, savoury mildly spicy hot with a vegetable kind of sweetness. The aromas from curry leaf was pronounced.
The fish filling fell out from the chili pepper 🌶️ The fish filling was tender, slightly springy, gently savoury.
The thick fish filling in the bitter gourd. Same savoury taste in the tender springy fish paste with a nice juicy soft crunch from the bitter gourd.
I ordered this pork blood curd the moment I saw it on the menu. It was alright 👌 Savoury in a dense tender cube of curd.
I ordered by pointing the poster to the staff but got delivered a Volcano 🌋 Ice Milo Dinosaur instead 🙄 The ice Milo was alright but it's not my drink as it was just sweet with a bit of chocolate taste.
Indulged in a bit of ice kopi envy on my way out after meal. Not my order, so next time then.
It's a simple tasty and affordable meal in a comfortable environment at Ankee. They have convenient set meals. Can try if you are in the area.
In the same area, there are a few popular eateries. Such as:
